Hello hello.
I made a simple curtain and tried to swing it with turbulanceField via carbonFlow node. It took 3.17 sec for 5 frames without this turbulanceField but It became 55.04 sec with the turbulanceField.
Is it normal or is there better way to have random swing effect?

Hi Dai, Reading the Maya flow data is not optimized in the current version and so its rather slow.
It's on the to do list and I expect it will be improved in the next few months.

Meanwhile the Carbon Uniform Flow is fast and direction/magnitude are animateable.
So you could just set up your own flow turbulence for now using Carbon Uniform Flow.

Hey,

Maybe also just check that your scale is set correctly, it may be that your curtain is gigantic in relation to the solver. or that your turbulence field has values that are far too high for the scale it is at.

As an alternative to turbulence field, you could also just use an airField to create the effect you're going for. which I've found to be pretty fast. See the clip below.

Thank you admin and toon link!
I've already put random forced carbonFlow but our director wanted to add more detailed turbulence feeling. I tried to use maya airField but it was same heaviness as turbulenceField.
I hope the carbonFlow will have turbulence attribute or using maya field will be optimized.
Anyway, I simulated my scene for several hours and had good result.
Thank you so much again! :-)
