With the latest release of Carbon (for Maya and Houdini) we can now define regions of collider, morph and cloth that do not collide.
Combining this with the binding constraint gives us a quick and easy way to deal with pinching armpits and similar situations.
As shown in this video here - applicable to Carbon for Maya and Houdini.
