With Carbon for Houdini 9.2.0 and Carbon Cloth for Maya 1.0.0 we introduced a Binding Reference
So now you need to make sure to paint the right mesh.

The Binding will look to see if the user has specified a Binding Reference Pose mesh.
If yes, it will try to read the painted attribute from that mesh.
If not, it will look to see if the user has specified a Reference Pose mesh for Object B (Cloth/Tetra).
If yes, it will try to read the painted attribute from that mesh.
If not, it will try to read the painted attribute from Object B's Start Mesh.

Also, all painted attribute names must start with a lower case letter.
