Hi !
I'm currently doing some tests to explore all the tools Carbon offers and I'm kinda stuck as to what process to use to make a rope simulation.

I'm using a basic cylinder as a cloth, I've tried using it alone and activating the edge group option and messing around with the parameters but no matter how thick I make the cloth, it always simulate as a hollow object and don't keep its shape.

I've also tried some test with a rigid cloth welding but it was more of a bouncy cylinder than a cloth so I didn't explore much.

Do you have any tips on how to best achieve a rope sim ?

Thank you !

Hi  mhd ,

I would try this two steps process:
  1. Simulate a lattice grid with edge group activated
  2. Use the Carbon Mesh Deformer to deform a cylinder based on the grid.
I have attached a simple example of this for you.

Please let me know if that works for you.

Cheers,
Sebastian
